Church History
Church of the First Born was founded on October 15, 1985, by Pastor Alfred Johnson and his wife, Dorothy Johnson. From the early stages of Church of the First Born, the mission has stayed the same: "To proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to those who is said to be hopeless and equip men and women in the inner city to focus on and do inner city ministry". During its beginning years, Church of the First Born was blessed with many members who shared the same vision and like-mindedness of doing kingdom work. As the years progressed, Church of the First Born has become a staple in the city of Chattanooga and works tirelessly bringing hope to the hopeless, lending its hands to those who may deal with addictions, assisting the homeless, and creating youth programming.
Currently, Church of the First Born is a 250-member congregation who proclaims that Jesus is the ONLY way to an everlasting life. Its non-denominational teachings are a biblically sound, pointing everyone to Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord. We extend an invitation to all who are looking for a bible believing church, to building engaging communities, to serving, and to being the salt and light of this world.
